
OUR FOUNDER
Our founder, N'Kengé Robertson, is an educator, writer, and founder, as well as former co-chair of the steering committee and curriculum lead for National Black Lives Matter at School. With more than ten years of experience across diverse educational spaces, she currently serves as a high school English teacher and the founder of Accountability Counts. She is a 2022 DPSCD Outstanding Educator Award recipient, a 2022 National Council of Teachers of English Early Educator of Color Leadership Award recipient, a 2024 DPSCD Outstanding Educator Award recipient, and a 2025 Detroit Lions Touchdown for Teachers Award recipient. She is also a proud native of Detroit, Michigan.
N'Kengé earned both her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Michigan State University, strengthening her commitment to advancing educational equity for students of color. Through her work at the local, regional, and national levels, she has developed curricula, instructional practices, and written works designed to transform classroom environments and support students in thriving academically and personally.
